How do I:

Join the Senior Center?

Stop by or call the Senior Center at 978-671-0916 and make an appointment for a tour of the facility.  If you become a member, you will be issued a key card which you will use whenever you visit the Center. Tours of the Senior Center are available during the hours of 8:30 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

 

How old does one have to be to join the Senior Center?

You must be 60 years old to participate at the senior center. We offer a few programs for those 50 or older such as Chronic Disease Health Classes, Caregiver and Bereavement Support groups.

 

Is there a cost for membership?

There is no cost to attend the Senior Center. However, if we pay an instructor to teach a class there may be a fee to participate in craft, wellness, dance and exercise classes as well as for special meals and entertainment.

 

What are the Senior Center's operating hours?

The Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

 

How do I find out about the activities at the Senior Center?

Our activities and services are listed in our monthly 'Outlook' newsletter. An annual subscription costs $12.00. To subscribe, contact the Senior Center at 978-671-0916. We also post our activities on Billerica Access TV’s Community Events calendar and in the Billerica Minuteman newspaper.  Many of our activities, including games and social activites, are free to attend.

How do I make a request for transportation?

Call the Senior Center at 978-671-0916, ext. 2003, and speak to our Transportation Coordinator for information about our transportation services.

 

What are Outreach Services?

The Outreach staff is available to assist seniors with any concerns.  The staff makes home visits and provides information and referral.  Staff are trained to inform seniors of the programs and services available to them through the Council on Aging and other elder services, public benefits and service agencies.  For more information on the services available through the Outreach Department, call the Senior Center at 978-671-0916 and ask to speak with the Outreach Department.

 

Does the Senior Center serve meals?

At the present time, the Senior Center is not serving meals.

 

How do I request Meals on Wheels for a homebound elderly resident?

The Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals to seniors, age 60 or over, who are unable to leave their homes due to physical, emotional or cognitive impairments or have inadequate kitchen facilities resulting in an inability to prepare nutritionally adequate meals, illness, disability or frailty through the Meals on Wheels Program.

There is no cost for either the home delivered meals, however, a $2.00 per meal donation is suggested. The donation is anonymous and voluntary. No eligible elder will be denied service based on their income or their ability to make a donation.
