By viewing images of vintage US postage stamps, learn about the history of the US Post Office from the first letters carried on the Boston Post Road to the current postal controversies. Hear Henry Lukas speak about the expansion of the Post Office after the Revolution, controversies over the post and slavery, the introduction of home delivery, mail orders, the short-lived Pony Express, the carrying of mail by railroads, buses and trollies, the start of Parcel Post, the dead letter office, airmail week, V-mail during World War II, the start of zip codes, postal strikes, the introduction of Forever and personalized stamps and the impact of email on the PO’s financial situation. See images of the many creative ways mail has been carried including rockets, dog sleds, camels and mules in the Grand Canyon. Also see worldwide stamps about Covid. Cost is Free. Please join us for our in-person Memory Café on the second Wednesday of the month from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at the BCOA. This month, we will get creative and work on a holiday craft together. The Cafés are free, open and welcoming monthly social gatherings for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. Guests with dementia, at any stage, and due to any underlying condition, are encouraged to attend accompanied by their caregiver. To sign up, please call Carolyn Savio at 978-671-0916, ext. 2010.

Join us for a hearty fall lunch prepared by the Travelling Chef. Menu includes Beef Wellington or Beef Burgundy, Roasted Potatoes, Honey Glazed Carrots, Snowflake Roll and Apple Pie. Cost is $4.00 per person. There is a limit of 16 patrons at this event. For safety reasons each person will be sitting at a separate small table. If you are coming with someone else there must be agreement between the 2 of you to remove your masks to be in close proximity.
